In an exclusive interview with Cointelegraph, Kraken’s head of growth Dan Held said that Bitcoin is likely to become the world’s reserve currency, although we “it will take at least ten years.”
According to Held, the transition to “super-bitcoinization” (a world where Bitcoin is adopted by billions of users) started with retail users, then institutional investors, and finally government involvement.
The permission-free nature of Bitcoin is the basic attribute that led to this shift. “This is real, free money. This is money that no one can control except you.”, he pointed out.
He said that in developing countries, Bitcoin is mainly used to avoid censorship-while in the Western world, Bitcoin is attractive as a hedge against central bank money printing.
