Polygon co-founder said that Ethereum will replace Bitcoin as the leading crypto network

Polygon co-founder Sandeep Nailwal said in an exclusive interview with Cointelegraph: “Sooner or later, ETH will surpass Bitcoin and become a global standard.”

Nailwal believes that Ethereum will eventually become the “final settlement layer” in the DeFi field. Polygon will play an important role in ensuring the long-term success of Ethereum through its scalability solutions. Despite increasing competition from other layer 1 protocols such as Solana, Nailwal believes that it is too early to talk about the “Ethereum Killer”.

“The Ethereum chain, due to its basic principles, security, degree of decentralization, and community, and the trust that it has established as a chain over time, is beyond the reach of any other chain,” he claimed.

According to the co-founder of Polygon, Etheruem will eventually prove even better than Bitcoin because it has more use cases. Nailwal believes that if Bitcoin does not extend its utility beyond pure monetary system functions, it may not be able to exist as a layer 1 protocol for a long time.

“It may take 10 years from now, but I don’t see a world where there are multiple layer 1 protocols.”
