Finish, rename the blog

If you have read my recent book or heard me talk about Ethereum and this major upgrade in progress, you may have noticed that I not only avoided discussing “phases” (instead, referring to a series of independent upgrades), But I have also been trying to shelve the terms “eth1” and “eth2”.I have got Say Regarding these terrible terms, and January’s “Status of Eth2”.

What we call “eth2” is a series of major upgrades to Ethereum Consensus layer –Ensure that the protocol is secure, sustainable and scalable – “eth2 customers” are the realization of this proof-of-stake consensus.

Moreover, in this case, what we call “eth1” is the richness of Ethereum Application layerIn the same way, the “eth1 client” (after upgrading to proof of stake) is the software that does heavy work at this layer. The application layer of Ethereum is currently driven by a proof-of-work consensus algorithm, but will soon be driven by the beacon chain. The beacon chain is a consensus mechanism for proof of rights that is currently in production and protected by approximately 3.5 million ETH.

Now proceed with my ad campaign and I will rename this blog series. From now on, the series will be called “Finalization: Ethereum Consensus Layer”, and its name is a tribute to the most critical function of the proof of stake consensus layer – Finality.

Stakers: Upgrade your nodes

To stay in touch, you must be compatible with Berlin

The Ethereum PoW chain is undergoing a mainnet upgrade called Berlin on April 14, 2021. This is a backwards incompatible branch, so it needs to update the software to continue to follow the mainnet. You can read more about this on EF’s website Ethereum Berlin upgrade announcement.

As a stakeholder in the beacon chain, you need an Ethereum PoW endpoint to successfully perform all the various responsibilities as a validator. This function acts as a one-way link between system components to allow new validators to deposit.

Therefore, to successfully maintain this link, Stakeholders must upgrade Their Ethereum PoW node!If you are running the Pyrmont testnet, you must upgrade the Goerli node Before March 17, 2021, and if you verify on the mainnet, you must upgrade the mainnet PoW node Before April 14, 2021.

In addition, it is a good time to upgrade the beacon node

In addition to upgrading your PoW node, I strongly recommend that you also upgrade the beacon node.already have a lot of Juicy optimizations have recently been made to all mainnet clients. To ensure that your verification program runs with the best performance (and profitability), please pull down the latest version and try it.

Upgrade your node! 🚀
